God Did This
God Did This—Crafted with Purpose || Psalm 119:73 (NIV) || Dr. Chantee Earl

"Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands."
Reflection:
Lent is a season of reflection on who we are in light of who God is. Psalm 119:73 reminds us that we are not accidents or random occurrences—we are God’s creation, formed by His hands, with purpose and intention. God did this! God crafted us, carefully and intentionally, for a reason. He designed us with specific gifts, a unique purpose, and a calling to reflect His love and truth in the world.
This truth is deeply personal but also calls us to something larger. If God made us, then He made others, too. Each person is created in His image, deserving of love, respect, and dignity. Oppressive systems try to erase the truth that every person is created by God and worthy of dignity. But when we stand up against injustice, when we advocate for those who are marginalized, we affirm a sacred truth: God made them, too. When justice prevails, when dignity is restored, when the oppressed are lifted up, we can declare with certainty: God did this! He is the one who forms, redeems, and empowers us to do good in the world.
Lent is a time to reconnect with our Creator, to seek understanding, and to ask: How am I living in alignment with God’s purpose for me? Am I reflecting His love, His justice, and His mercy in the world? God made us to grow, to learn, and to become more like Him. As we move through this journey, may we be reminded of the immense care and love that went into our creation—and may we respond by living out our purpose with faithfulness and joy.
Prayer:
Creator God, I praise You for making me and forming me with purpose. Teach me to understand Your commands and live them out in my daily life. Help me to see others as You see them—valuable, beloved, and crafted by Your hands. May I live according to the purpose You’ve designed for me and honor You in all that I do. Amen.
Take Action:
Reflect on the ways you have lived out the purpose God has given you. Is there an area of your life where God is calling you to grow or to live more intentionally? This week, take one step toward living more fully into the person God has made you to be—whether in your relationships, your work, or your community.
