Set Apart for God
Set Apart for God || Deuteronomy 7: 6 || Sis. Carolyn Satcher
6For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
In last week’s Sunday School lesson, we talked about “Holy Conduct,” how we as Christians should want to be holy even as God is holy. This means we have to conduct ourselves in a way that’s not like the world by obeying his word and presenting our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our reasonable service. God chose the Israelites to be set apart for him.
One example was Moses, who helped bring the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt. One of the criteria of this was not to be like the heathens who worshipped idol gods. When God’s servant Lot was living in Sodom & Gomorrah, one of the worst cities in the world, he chose Lot & his family to be a special people for Him.
God has set aside so many in the Bible to be a special people for him. Some others that have been set apart to do his will are John the Baptist, the twelve disciples, Paul, Timothy, Barnabus, James and many more to do his work on earth. We as Christians here on earth have been set apart to do God’s will because we are a special people.
Prayer: Our Father God in heaven thank you for your goodness and mercy towards us. Thank you for setting us apart to do you will here on earth. In Jesus name I pray.
