Cleaned And Redeemed
Clean and Redeemed || Titus 2:14 (NIV) || Dr. Chantee Earl

"Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."
Reflection:
Lent is a season of purification—a time to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice and the redemption He offers us. Titus 2:14 reminds us that Jesus gave Himself not just to save us but to cleanse us, to purify our hearts and lives so that we might reflect His goodness in the world.
To be redeemed is to be bought back, rescued from the bondage of sin and brokenness. But redemption is not just about being freed from something—it is also about being freed for something. Christ cleanses us so that we may be His own people, eager to live lives of righteousness, justice, and love.
God calls us to be purified from the ways we have knowingly or unknowingly participated in injustice—whether through silence, inaction, or complicity in systems that marginalize others. True redemption compels us to confront wickedness wherever it exists: in racial oppression, economic disparity, and all forms of systemic sin.
The process of cleansing is not always easy. It requires surrender, repentance, and a willingness to let go of the things that keep us distant from God. Lent invites us into this process—examining our hearts, confessing where we have fallen short, and allowing God’s grace to refine us. When we do, we emerge not just forgiven, but transformed, ready to shine light in dark places, disrupt injustice, and reflect the love of a redeeming God.
Prayer:
Holy and loving God, thank You for redeeming me through the sacrifice of Jesus. Cleanse my heart of anything that keeps me from You. Strengthen me to challenge systems of oppression and to work toward a world that reflects Your righteousness. Purify my thoughts, my words, and my actions so that I may be eager to do good and reflect Your love in the world. Amen.
Take Action:
Take time today to reflect on what needs cleansing in your life. Is it a habit, a mindset, or a relationship that needs redemption? Offer it to God in prayer, and take one tangible step toward living as one purified and eager to do good.
