In God's Presence
In God's Presence || Exodus 33:14 || Pastor Aaron Robinson

"And the Lord said, 'My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14
The verses that precede this text Moses finds himself in a conundrum, he is wondering if God is truly with him at this juncture in the journey. Moses has had to deal with difficult people, rough terrain Navigate trying times. God's response reassures Moses that he is not alone on this journey. God's response reminds Moses that trouble don't last always.
Someone may be wondering how this text is applicable to us. Well, let me tell you. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to feel disconnected, discouraged and worn out. The demands of work, family, church, and personal responsibilities can leave us feeling drained, depleted, and in need of renewal. When we feel like we want to give up, it’s important to remember the promise that God made to Moses in Exodus 33:14. God assured Moses that God’s presence would go with him and give him rest.
This divine assurance and insurance are not limited to Moses alone; it is a promise for all of God's children. It is a reminder that God is like a good neighbor. When we seek God's presence, we find a source of renewal that transcends our circumstances. God’s presence brings peace, rest, and a deep sense of belonging. It is in God’s presence that we are restored and revitalized.
Renewal in God’s Rest
Notice that God promises not just God’s presence, but rest. Rest is essential to renewal. It’s easy to equate rest with simply stopping work or getting some sleep, but biblical rest is much deeper. It’s a rest that renews our spirit, a peace that transcends our circumstances. It’s the kind of rest that can only come from being in the presence of the One who created us and knows our every need.
When we draw near to God, God offers us rest from worry, from striving, and from the burdens that weigh us down. In His presence, we find the strength to continue the journey, the clarity to see His purpose, and the comfort of knowing God is with us every step of the way.
Walking in God’s Presence
Renewal begins with recognizing our need for God. Just as Moses sought God's guidance and presence, we too must turn to God in our weak moments. We must seek God in our times of need. When we invite God into our lives, we open ourselves up to God’s transforming power. God’s presence has the ability to change our hearts, renew our minds, and strengthen our spirits.
As we move through each day, the call is to remain in God's presence. This doesn't always mean withdrawing from our tasks but learning to invite God into every moment. It’s about making time to connect with the Creator, through prayer, worship, or simply sitting quietly in God’s presence. As we do, we allow God to refresh us with peace and wisdom that comes from God.
God's presence is not something that we have to earn or strive for; it is a gift that is freely gives to those who seek God. When we make time to be in God’s presence, whether through prayer, worship, or studying God’s Word, we create space for God to work in our lives. It is in these moments of intimacy with God that we find true rest and renewal.
As we go through our daily lives, let us remember the promise that God made to Moses. Let us seek God’s presence and allow God to lead us, guide us, and give us rest. In God’s presence, we find the renewal that our hearts and souls long for.
Prayer: Most Gracious and Merciful God, thank You for the promise of Your presence and the rest that it brings. Help me to seek You in all that I do and to find renewal in Your presence. May Your presence go with me and give me rest. Amen.
