Thanks For Saving Me
Thanks for Saving Me | 1 Timothy 1: 12 – 16 | Sis. Carolyn J. Satcher
What is more satisfying than knowing that you are saved. We should thank God for Salvation because we do not deserve it. When God made man, he was perfect. Curiosity took over the mind of man. Man decided that he wanted to know what is this that God forbids us to do. Therefore, man committed the immortal sin of disobeying God. His punishment was to be death, not salvation. God being merciful as He is, did not allow them to die physically but to be punished by toiling the soil and having pain in childbirth.
According to Ephesians 2:8 we are saved by grace through our faith. It is the gift of God. God sacrificed his only son, the Lord Jesus Christ so that we might be saved. Acts 4: 12 says “neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.” Acts 2:21 says, “whosoever shall call on the name of Jesus shall be saved.” John 3:17 says, God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.” Mark 16:16 says: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” I know all of us do not want to be damned, therefore being saved is your only way to have eternal life.
A lot of people place emphasis on the day they supposedly were saved. That’s not important. What is important is that you are saved. I don’t know the day nor the hour I was saved. I only know that I decided to give my life to Jesus because I wanted to know that there was another life beyond this earthly life. If God saved the thief on the cross who ask Jesus to remember him when he came into his kingdom, Paul the Apostle who persecuted Christians and forgave Peter for denying him anyone can be saved.
February 26, 2017, would be seven years that my dear mother passed away from this life. I will never forget it. That’s why I am glad to write this Lent on this day on thanking God for being saved. I thank God that my “MOTHER” was saved and would gain eternal life when Christ will call the roll of all of his saints to live with him in our future heavenly home. One of her greatest assets to staying saved was that she was in constant prayer. I have several notes still in my possession of prayers that she prayed to stay in touch with God. We all should do that. There’s a quote that says, “prayer is the key to the Kingdom.”
Romans 10:9 says: “if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. So those of you who have not confessed your sins and want to be saved, take the time to do this so that you might be saved. You need only say, “forgive me Lord for my sins and save me.” It’s just that simple.
Prayer: Thank you, dear Lord, for your goodness and mercy. Thank you so much for saving me so that I might live again. Thank you most of all for the sacrifice of you son Jesus. Dear God we look forward to being with you when you shall come back for those who are saved. In Jesus name, I pray.
