God Remember Me In Spite of Me
God Remember Me In Spite of Me
Psalms 106: 4-12
Rev. Dawn Love
Have you ever wondered if God loves you? Or do you wonder if some of the mistakes you have made are “so bad” that God “can’t stand” you? Perhaps you look around and think that everyone else has it all together, but your life is a disaster.
First off, let me reassure you that we are ALL a hot mess. And secondly, let me also reassure you that our mess does not surprise God. The amazing thing is that our mess doesn’t keep God from loving us. God loves us in spite of and He desires to have a relationship with us even after all of the mistakes we have made.
If you don’t believe God can love someone like you; let me encourage you today, by telling you that God has already chosen you. YOU MATTER TO GOD. And He wants you to love Him back more than anything else!
The title of this Lenten Devotional made me think about the song “In Spite of Me” by Tasha Cobbs Leonard (ft. Ciara). Some of the lyrics in this song says:
I don't cross every T, I don't dot every I
I've got more flaws than a little, and I messed up a thousand times
I don't always commit, sometimes I give up way too quickly
And then I get tired of trying to run away
From who I am to who I wanna be
I'm stubborn at heart
I'm quick to put up a guard
I do it all be myself; I won't ask for help
And sometimes my mouth is smart
I can be insecure
Counting other people's blessings
And never stop to notice what I got
You still love me in spite of me
You still choose me; how can it be?
The encouraging message is that God loves us so much, even though we are messed up. He gave that which was the most valuable to Him, so we could know Him. He gave his precious son to die on the cross for our sins to replace you, the sinner, with a new version of you, which is a child of God.
Prayer: God, thank you for loving me in spite of who I am, a sinner. I’m thankful Jesus died to forgive my sins. Continue to be with me as I navigate through this thing called life. Amen.
He will answer that prayer because he wants you to enjoy His love for you.
